El Balcón de Los Artistas

El Balcón de Los Artistas is a cultural organization that promotes art and popular culture in the northeastern part of Medellín, especially in Manrique Oriental, Versalles I and II, and Raizal. It emerged in 1992 as a neighborhood initiative seeking to improve the urban environment and create participatory spaces for children and youth, recognizing the cultural richness, local talent, and resilience of a community seeking to transform itself and leave behind the violence of the 1990s.

In 2006, El Balcón de Los Artistas was legally incorporated to formalize its work in creating artistic spaces and community dialogue, promoting strategies such as dance to reduce risk factors associated with urban violence. It also promotes the provision and marketing of cultural products with a focus on social development, generating economic opportunities for its participants. Its central objective is to offer children, adolescents, and young people an alternative for the present and future, where art allows them to transform their reality, recognize their talent, and strengthen their communities.

The community impact of El Balcón de Los Artistas has been recognized by the Medellín City Council and the Antioquia Assembly with the Don Juan del Corral and Mariscal Jorge Robledo distinctions. It is the only cultural corporation of its kind in Colombia certified in social responsibility by Fenalco Solidario. In 2020, its director and founder received the Medal of Merit for Women for her work since 2002. The talent trained within the corporation has been highlighted by Maluma in his video “Medallo City.” It is a Cultural Ambassador to UNESCO and has taken its art to national and international stages, thanks to the support of families, donors, and community events.

This magnific show will be presented at the Opening of Pandengue, on April 21.
